Wednesday, June 24, 15: Health update: Yesterday my heart doc chastised me for the randomness of my taking the diuretic bumex. It wasn’t working to get the liquid off my body so I decided to alternate days with a higher dosage. So today I followed his direction and took 1 bumex, bumetanide 2mg, and peed out 2 liters in 3 hours. So now I’ll take 1/day unless he says otherwise. I will have to cease my Pradaxa and aspirin dose for 7 days to get a hip injection for pain. (http://www.spine-health.com/treatment/injections/hip-joint-injections-pain-relief) Since my hip replacements at 13, I’d been forbidden this kind of exercise and now that all my muscles are being worked I feel very strange and achy all the time. My right hip is especially painful so my hip doc wants me to get a steroid injection next week. Hopefully this will allow me to walk OK while in Paris late October. My heart problem has somehow also made me pre-diabetic by impacting my pancreas. My A1C is 5.8 and my heart’s ejection fraction is down to 40-45%, this is why my kidneys and pancreas, I think, don't work right anymore.
While I saw each intake of bumex as causing urination for about 3 hours, I now think my heart Doc sees each as maintaining a level in my blood stream similar to the way blood thinners work. The test for me now is: will a constant level cause me to pee out more.
Lot of other stuff is happening health-wise. Went to the ER 2 weeks ago and found I had a swollen gallbladder. It was very painful but later tests showed no gallstones and the pain went away in 24 hours. Lots of vomit, however. I’m thinking this might connect with the bloating I feel on the other side of my stomach. I hope I won’t need to have the gallbladder removed.
In February, I was informed that my heart no longer has a beat and is totally dependent on my pacemaker. I am now a cyborg and feel very vulnerable, so I have gotten two trainers at Gold’s Gym for 12 weeks. The intent is to build my other muscles so my heart won’t have to work so hard. This building is tough. To reduce hip pressure we trained in the pool yesterday.
I had two root canals on last Friday and found that I need gum work on the other side of my mouth. My insurance won’t pay for most of this but it has to be done.
In March, I had surgery to remove a planar wart from the bottom of my left foot. Veronica, Val, was here for that and I made a bad parking mistake that got the car towed. That wart had been bothering me since September 2014 and the surgery took a long time to heal.
